Philosophy

The IBO philosophy is based on a few simple yet most effective principles, which not only define the tournament character, but also are the real cause of it’s success. The managers Nikolai Dumke and Claude Weiland along with their orga team constantly work on surpassing their previous achievements in these essential areas.

Innovation, innovation, innovation…

The real credo of all BAE Open Championships: developing ideas, innovating methods, aspiring to excellence and perfection… We are in constant search for optimal answers to both the big and the tiny questions of this event, analyzing the expectations and feedback of our starters, testing and developing new organisation methods, locating and fixing errors in the system and improving our work in every possible method. We really live this, you know. :)

Experience

The Budo-Academy-Europe (BAE) has around 40 years of practice in martial arts instruction and events, and every new activity joins this rich body of experience. The IBO also benefits from this successful tradition, and so does our experienxe from every IBO.

Sportsmanship

High ideals of integrity, responsibility and respect have a historically grown tradition in the martial arts. In respect of these values, absolute fairness and openness are among our most important principles.

Diversity

Our goal is to offer a maximum amount of competition possibilities for martial artists: by various styles, various groups, divisions, age/weight classes and various combinations of all these offers. But regardless of living up to high standards of diversity, we constantly keep an eye on offering a transparent, plain and predictable system for our athletes’ and spectators’ convenience.

Passion

Wholehearted engagement and passion is what motivates us to continually improve our event and ourselves. Most of our team members are passionate about martial arts, and so they are about the IBO as a great, growing sports event.
